General DVD Transfer Services FAQ

Q: Which DVD Transfer Services are offered?
A:

  • Videotape transferred to DVD.
  • Movie film, prints or slides transferred directly to DVD or VHS.
  • Digital camera photos and videos on DVD.
  • Videotape transferred to videotape: either a 1:1 duplication, or combining shorter length tapes onto one tape.

Q: How do I know if DVD is compatible with my DVD player?
A: A DVD disc will play in almost all standalone DVD players in use today. If your DVD player was purchased after 1999 and can read DVD-R media, it is very likely that your DVD player is compatible with DVD.

Q: May I include a title for my DVD?
A: The DVD is designed to support one title line (up to 35 characters) and two description lines (both up to 35 characters). The title line appears on the DVD on screen menu, the spine of the DVD case and on the upper left corner of the DVD case. The VHS transfers will also have titles on the videotape case label.
Videotape to DVD Transfer FAQ

Q: Which videotape formats can be transferred?
A: Any camcorder videotape format including VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, 8mm, Hi-8, Digital 8, miniDV, DVCam and Betamax.

Q: Can foreign format tapes be transferred?
A: PAL tapes (the most common in Europe) in VHS, S-VHS and VHS-C formats can be transferred to NTSC (United States) in DVD and in VHS.

Q: What is the maximum videotape quantity or time that can be transferred to one DVD?
A: Videotape to DVD – Up to two videotapes not to exceed 2 hours in total length. Videotape to VHS – Up to six videotapes can be merged, not to exceed 3 hours in total length.
Movie Film to DVD FAQ

Q: Which products can be made from old movie film?
A: DVD or VHS videotape

Q: Which types of movie film can be transferred?
A: 8mm movie film, Super 8mm movie film, 16mm movie film. NOTE: Orders containing a mixture of 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm movie film will be produced with like sizes combined together. We are unable to alternate sizes within the same order.

Q: What is included in the base movie film to DVD and VHS transfer price?
A: The first 250 feet, and any required splicing and cleaning are included in the base price. The base price also includes background music and choice of title.

Q: What is the maximum movie length that can be transferred to one DVD or videotape?
A: Movie Film to DVD/VHS - maximum 1600 feet of 8mm or Super 8; maximum 3200 feet of 16mm. Any order quantity larger than these sizes will be automatically split into smaller orders and priced appropriately. Split orders may require additional service time.
35mm Slides to DVD FAQ

Q: Which products can be made from 35mm slides?
A: DVD or VHS videotape

Q: Which types of slides are accepted?
A: Only standard 35mm slides in plastic or cardboard mounts. Metal and glass slide mounts are not accepted. All slides must be removed from carousels, slide trays and viewing binders.

Q: What is included in the base DVD and VHS price?
A: First 80 slides are included in the base price. The base price also includes background music and choice of title.

Q: What is the maximum quantity that can be transferred to one DVD or Videotape?
A: Maximum 1000 slides. Any order quantity larger than these sizes or duration will be automatically split into smaller orders, and priced appropriately. Split orders may require additional service time.

Q: Is the DVD from slides viewable on a PC? Can prints be made from it?
A: . DVD from slides or prints comes with a DVD slideshow that can be viewed on a DVD player, and includes archive-quality high resolution JPEGs (up to 4.7 megapixels) that can be viewed and printed on a PC. Software embedded on the DVD produces lower resolution jpeg files to share via email.

Q: Which products can be made from photo prints?
A: DVD or VHS videotape

Q: Which print sizes are accepted?
A: From minimum size of 2”x2” to maximum size of 8”x12”.

Q: Which types of digital media can be converted to DVD?
A: Digital photos and digital video

Q: Where is digital photo and videos to DVD transfer service available?
A: Digital photos and videos to DVD transfer service is available only at retail locations with the DVD Generator minilab system.

Q: How do I submit my digital photos and videos?
A: You may submit your digital photos and videos on CD, DVD or memory card (Compact Flash, Memory Stick, SmartMedia, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital, xD-Picture Card). All submitted media input is returned with the completed order.

Q: Can digital photos and digital video be combined onto one DVD?
A: . A maximum of 250 digital photos + 1 hour of video content may be included on a DVD disc.

What to Know Before You Order

Q: Can a mix of movie film, prints, slides or videotape be included in the same order?
A: No, each media type must be put into a new separate Digital Transfer Services order bag, as separate orders. There can be no mixing of different types of media in the same order.

Q: Should film reels, slides and prints be transferred in a preferred sequence?
A: , and this can be done by using the numbered stickers included with the Digital Transfer Services order bag to label film reels, slide boxes and prints. All slides should be bundled or boxed in sets of 25 to 50. To enable us to transfer your slides precisely in the order you would like to view, number the slides within each bundle, and clearly identify the order of the bundles (set 1, set 2, etc.).

Q: What if the numbered stickers are not available?
A: Customers should use their own means of numbering the reels, slides or prints in a clear, identifiable sequence:
• Film Reels – place the sequence number on the reel
• Slides – slides should be numbered in viewing order and boxed
• Prints – place the sequence number on the back of the photograph

Q: Will my original media (videotape, slides, etc.) be returned?
A: , the media and reels or containers will be returned with the completed order. Note that movie film will be returned spliced and cleaned onto Video-supplied reels.

Q: What extra charges should be expected?
A: There are no extra charges for normal service other than some shipping cost. There are no hidden charges for splicing, cleaning, or music backgrounds. There will be a nominal repair charge for broken or damaged videotapes that were obviously broken prior to shipment.

Consumer Policies

Copyrighted or pornographic tapes, movies, slides or prints
The DVD service by Creative Digital Concepts ("CDC") is available for home videos, movies, slides or prints made by the customer. If the customer does not own the copyright, it is illegal to makes copies and the orders will be returned to the store unprocessed. A copyright release form is available by downloading or by contacting CDC at (949) 436-7015 and must be included in the order envelope or box in order to make a DVD or VHS tape from protected content. Videotapes, movies, slides or prints of obscene or illegal material will not be converted.

 

Quality Policy

The DVD service by CDC is a transfer service. Videotape, movies, slides or prints will not be enhanced. If a customer is not satisfied with the order, CDC will attempt to re-do it and attain a quality level as close as possible to original source quality. However, as with other software products, DVD and VHS tape orders are non-refundable.

Limitation of Liability

By submitting material to CDC, customer requests processing services described, and agrees to pay any standard charges therefore. Customer agrees that the liability of CDC, its agents and employees, for any losses or damages of any kind or nature to the customer’s film or tape, or other material, is limited to the cost of replacing such tape with blank tape. Customer also agrees that CDC, its agents and employees, shall not be otherwise liable to the customer for any loss or damage of any kind or nature, whether direct, incidental, consequential, or otherwise.

Customer declares that all materials submitted to CDC for transfer or other reproduction, are not in violation of any copyright laws.

Customer will indemnify and hold CDC harmless in respect to any claim of violation of such laws. The materials submitted were either created by customer or customer has the permission of the copyright owner to duplicate them. All copyrighted material must be accompanied with a written release form.
